Scope

GB 19210-2003 is the English-translated version of 空调通风系统清洗规范.

GB 19210-2003 is the Chinese code for cleaning the air duct systems of heating, ventilating and air-conditioning installations, drawn up in 2003 in response to the SARS outbreak with reference to the American ACR 2002 standard and the 1990 technical standard of the Japan Duct Cleaning Association.

It covers the inspection of duct cleanliness, environmental control during the works, cleaning methods, repair and replacement after cleaning, project monitoring and verification of the result, and applies to duct systems contaminated by dust and biological agents that have no special air-filtration requirements.

It sets maximum inspection intervals of one or two years for air handling units, supply and return ducts by building use, the conditions that make cleaning compulsory (visible deposits, microorganisms in supply air tested to GB/T 18204.1, particulates beyond GB/T 17095, loss of performance), and requires negative pressure in the ducts and isolation of the work area.

Further clauses deal with cleaning equipment, chemical agents, disposal of contaminants, mechanical and component cleaning, glass fibre and biological contamination, and inspection of effectiveness by visual and gravimetric methods; informative annexes give a project monitoring plan and the sampling frame.
