accessory intended for frequent use by ordinary persons, having pins designed to engage with

the contacts of a socket-outlet, also incorporating means for the electrical connection and

mechanical retention of one flexible cable

3.2 socket-outlet

accessory intended for frequent use by ordinary persons, having socket contacts designed to

engage with the pins of a plug and having terminals or terminations for the connection of cable

4 General Requirements

Accessories and boxes of surface mounting accessories shall be so designed and constructed

that, in normal use, their performance is reliable and safety is achieved by reducing risk to a

tolerable level, as defined in GB/T 20002.4.

5 General Remarks on Tests

Tests shall be made to prove compliance with the requirements laid down in this standard, where applicable.

Unless otherwise specified, the specimens are tested as delivered and under normal conditions of use.

6 Ratings

In a cord extension set, the rated current of the portable socket-outlet shall not be higher

and the rated voltage shall not be less than that of the plug.

7 Classification

Accessories are classified according to the degree of protection against access to

hazardous parts and against harmful effects due to the ingress of solid foreign object as

described in GB/T 4208-2017.

8 Marking

If the system allows plugs of a certain IP rating to be introduced into socket-outlets having

another IP rating, attention should be drawn to the fact that the resulting degree of protection of

the combination plug/socket-outlet is the lower of the two.

9 Checking of Dimensions

Accessories and surface-type mounting boxes shall comply with the appropriate standard

sheets and corresponding gauges for plug and socket-outlets systems, if any.

10 Protection against Electric Shock

Fixed socket-outlets, plugs when engaged and portable socket-outlets shall be so designed and
