Scope
GB 18399-2001 is the English-translated version of 棉花加工机械安全要求.
GB 18399-2001 specifies the basic safety rules for the design, manufacture, installation, use and repair of cotton processing machinery, and applies to cotton processing machinery and its auxiliary equipment.
It defines 20 terms, from hazardous factors and danger zones to guards, emergency stop switches, fixed steel ladders, platforms and auxiliary equipment, and sets design and manufacturing requirements covering the principles for ensuring safety, noise and dust, strength and materials of the main structure, the moving parts to be enclosed or guarded (including conveying and belt drives within 2 m of the operator's standing plane), guards withstanding a 1 200 N vertical static load, emergency stop devices and safety distances.
The installation, use and maintenance requirements cover platforms, railings and ladders to GB 4053, a minimum 1.9 m clear height under equipment, fire prevention, cover plates for equipment below elevation ±0, safety colours and signs, lifting points, instructions for use and hazard identification; informative Annex A gives examples of hazards, hazardous situations and hazardous events, starting with mechanical, electrical and thermal hazards.
Clauses 4.2.3, 4.2.4 and Annex A are recommendatory and the rest is mandatory. It is the first edition, issued on 20 July 2001 and in force since 1 December 2001.
