It takes the place of JB/T 8609-1997. Issued on 9 July 2014, it has applied since 1 November 2014.

1 Foreword
JB/T 8609-2014 was issued by MIIT on 9 July 2014 and has been in force since 1 November 2014.
It replaces the earlier edition JB/T 8609-1997.
2 Scope
This standard is a recommended machinery industry standard of China dealing with the welded parts of metal forming machinery. It fixes the items to be inspected and accepted on such weldments, together with the requirements they must meet, the methods used and the rules of inspection. The standard is intended for weldments in carbon steel and low alloy steel produced by manual arc welding, submerged arc welding and gas welding. GB/T 985.1, GB/T 985.2, GB/T 2650, GB/T 2651, GB/T 2652, GB/T 2653, GB/T 2654, GB/T 3323-2005, GB/T 11345-2013 and GB/T 19804-2005 are cited in it. It takes the place of JB/T 8609-1997.
