GB/T 40579-2021 is the English-translated version of 生态设计产品评价技术规范通信系统及设备.

GB/T 40579-2021 is the Chinese national technical specification for assessing communication systems and equipment as eco-design products. It sets the assessment principles and methods, the basic requirements the manufacturing company has to meet and the assessment indicators for the product itself.

It covers Ethernet switches; access equipment, namely ADSL customer and central office units and EPON, GPON and VDSL2 systems; and optical transmission equipment of the OTN, PTN and MSTP types.

The indicators draw on the standards for energy saving of access equipment, recyclability rate, restricted substances, packaging recycling marks, telecom equipment noise and life cycle assessment.

Manufacturers and assessment bodies use it to judge whether a product qualifies as eco-designed. It was issued on 11 October 2021 and has applied since 1 May 2022.

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" drafted.

1 Scope

This document specifies the evaluation principles and methods of communication systems and equipment eco-design products, the basic requirements of production enterprises and the requirements for products. evaluation index requirements.

This document applies to the evaluation of eco-design products for the following communication systems and equipment.

--- Ethernet switch;

---Access equipment, including ADSL client, ADSL central office, EPON system, GPON system and VDSL2 system;

--- Optical transmission equipment, including OTN equipment, PTN equipment and MSTP equipment.
