Scope
GB 20943-2013 is the English-translated version of 单路输出式交流－直流和交流－交流外部电源能效限定值及节能评价值.
GB 20943-2013 sets the minimum allowable values of energy efficiency and the evaluating values of energy conservation, with test methods and inspection rules, for single voltage external AC-DC and AC-AC power supplies that convert 220 V, 50 Hz mains into one fixed low output voltage of not more than 36 V, with rated output power up to 250 W; DC-DC supplies and special-purpose units for industrial or medical equipment are excluded.
The mandatory minimum average efficiency (the mean at 100%, 75%, 50% and 25% of rated current) is 0.5 × PO below 1 W, 0.09 × ln PO + 0.5 from 1 W to 51 W and 0.85 above, with no-load power of at most 0.5 W. The voluntary energy-conservation values are stricter and distinguish low-voltage, high-current products (under 6 V and at least 550 mA) from others, reaching 0.860 or 0.870 above 49 W, with no-load limits of 0.3 W for DC-output and 0.5 W for AC-output products below 50 W. Normative Annex A fixes the test conditions - (23 ± 5) °C, air speed not over 0.5 m/s, 115 V/60 Hz and 230 V/50 Hz or 220 V/50 Hz supply, wattmeter resolution, 30 min preheating - and type inspection samples 3 units with a retest of 6.
It replaces GB 20943-2007, adding GB 4706.18-2005 as a reference, raising the efficiency requirements, deleting the former target values and adding a test provision for products under 1 W. Only 4.1 is mandatory.

4.1 of this standard is mandatory; the rest is recommended.
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB 20943-2007 Minimum allowable values of energy efficiency and evaluating values of energy conservation for single voltage external AC-DC and AC-AC power supplies. Compared with GB 20943-2007, the main changes are as follows:
- the normative reference GB 4706.18-2005 has been added;
- the energy efficiency requirements of former 3.1 "Minimum allowable values of energy efficiency" and former 3.2 "Evaluating values of energy conservation" have been raised;
- former 3.3 "Target minimum allowable values of energy efficiency" has been deleted;
- A.1.4 has been added, applicable to the testing of products with a nominal output power of less than 1 W.
