Scope
GB/T 44868-2024 is the English-translated version of 绿色产品评价 电玩具.
GB/T 44868-2024 is the Chinese green product assessment standard for electric toys. China makes the majority of the world's toys, and an electric toy is a demanding case for a green label because it combines plastics, electronics and batteries in a product with a short life and a young user: the environmental question and the safety question cannot be separated, since the substances that matter environmentally are the same ones a child must not be exposed to. The standard sets the evaluation requirements, the basic requirements the product and its producer must satisfy before assessment and then the indicators, covering the materials and the restricted substances including heavy metals, phthalates and flame retardants, the energy consumption and the battery, the durability and repairability that determine how long the toy lasts, the packaging, and the recyclability and end-of-life handling; and then the evaluation methods, with a normative annex giving the evaluation and the calculation. It takes effect on 1 June 2025.

It takes effect on 1 June 2025.
This document specifies the evaluation requirements for green products of electric toys and describes the corresponding evaluation methods.
