Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part

1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 31418-2015 "Terminology for Road Traffic Signal Control Systems". Compared with GB/T 31418-2015, except for the conclusion... Aside from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

a) The terminology and definition for "[Road] Traffic Signal Control" have been added (see 3.1.1);

b) The definitions of "[Road] Traffic Lights" and "[Road] Traffic Signal Control System" have been changed (see 3.1.2, 3.1.4,.2015 version). 2.1.1, 2.6.1);

c) The terminology and definition for "[Road] Traffic Signal Control Methods" have been added (see 3.1.5);

d) The definition of "[Traffic] Signal Timing" has been changed (see 3.1.6,

2.3.1 in the.2015 version);

e) Added terms and definitions for "signal control parameters," "[signal] control benefits," and "signal-controlled intersections" (see 3.1.7-3.1.9);

f) The definitions of "motor vehicle traffic lights" and "non-motor vehicle traffic lights" have been changed (see 3.2.1, 3.2.2, and

2.1.3 in the.2015 version);

g) The terminology and definition for "left-turn non-motorized vehicle signal light" have been added (see 3.2.3);

h) The definitions of "pedestrian crossing signal lights", "direction indicator signal lights", "U-turn signal lights", and "lane signal lights" have been changed (see 3.2.4~). 3.2.7 (Versions

This document defines the commonly used terms and definitions for road traffic signal control systems. This document applies to the planning, design, construction, operation, and management of road traffic signal control systems, and also to road traffic signal control... Technical exchange and cooperation in the manufacturing field.

Note. Unless otherwise specified, "traffic signal" in this document refers to "traffic light".

3 Terms and Definitions

3.1 Basic Terminology 3.1.1 [road] traffic signal control To ensure safety, improve efficiency, and optimize right-of-way, traffic lights (3.1.2) are used to allocate traffic flow in terms of time. Traffic control measures for right-of-way. 3.1.2 [road] traffic lights [road] traffic signal lights traffic lights A signaling device that directs vehicles and pedestrians by using different combinations of red, yellow, and green light-emitting units.

Note. Red illuminated units indicate no passage, green illuminated units indicate passage is permitted, and yellow illuminated units indicate a warning.

3.1.3 Traffic signal controller A device capable of changing the sequence of road traffic signals, adjusting timing, and controlling the operation of road traffic lights (3.1.2).

3.1.4 It consists of road traffic lights (3.1.2), road traffic signal controllers (3.1.3), traffic detectors (3.2.18), communication equipment, and control computing. A system consisting of a computer and related software. 3.1.5 [Road] Traffic signal control mode of [road] trafficsignal signal control mode The road traffic signal control system (3.1.4) determines road traffic signals autonomously or through manual intervention based on traffic flow patterns and control objectives. 3.1.6 Traffic signal timing Based on traffic flow patterns, the process of designing and optimizing signal control parameters (3.1.7) to achieve control objectives.
