Scope
GB/T 20651.1-2018 is the English-translated version of 往复式内燃机 安全 第1部分:压燃式发动机.
GB/T 20651.1-2018 sets the safety requirements and protective measures for compression ignition engines and their basic ancillary equipment. It applies to engines used on land, underground and on water, but not to aircraft engines, and it does not cover the special requirements for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
The engine it describes runs from the prime mover to the power output end.
After a hazard list, it covers the starting system, normal shutdown and emergency stop, control, monitoring and alarm devices, guarding and protective design, lighting, handling, fire and explosion protection, pressure vessels, hoses, piping and wiring, electrical equipment, access, noise and exhaust emissions, followed by the instructions for use and maintenance and the marking.
Engine manufacturers use it. It replaces GB/T 20651.1-2006, was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 July 2019.

Foreword
GB/T 20651 "Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engine Safety" is divided into two parts.
--- Part 1. Compression ignition engine;
--- Part 2. Ignition engine.
This part is the first part of GB/T 20651.
This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This part replaces GB/T 20651.1-2006 "Reciprocating internal combustion engine safety Part 1. Compression ignition engine". Compared with GB/T 20651.1-2006, the main technical changes are as follows.
--- Revised the scope of application (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the 2006 edition);
--- Updated some of the standards in the normative references (see Chapter 2, Chapter 2 of the 2006 edition);
--- Added reference standards in terms and definitions (see Chapter 3);
--- Adding general requirements to safety requirements and/or measures (see 6.1);
---Modified protection design requirements (see 6.9, 6.8 of 2006 edition);
--- Modified the requirements for noise (see 6.19, 6.19 in 2006);
---Modified use and maintenance instructions (see Chapter 7, Chapter 7 of the 2006 edition);
--- Revised references (see references, Appendix B of the 2006 edition);
--- Removed the description of the relationship with the EU Directive (see Appendix ZA of the 2006 edition).
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 20651 specifies the safety requirements and protective measures for compression ignition engines and their basic ancillary equipment. This section does not include special requirements for use in potentially explosive environments.
This section applies to compression ignition engines (hereinafter referred to as "engines") for land, underground and water. This section does not apply to aerospace engines.
The engine described in this section refers to the prime mover to the power output end.
