Scope

GB 6975-2013 is the English-translated version of 棉花包装.

China's mandatory standard for the baling of cotton - the packaging that holds a lint bale together through pressing, warehousing, transport by road, rail and sea and reopening at the mill, and which the whole cotton trade relies on for identification and for weight. It specifies the technical requirements for the bale packaging, the packaging methods, the bale markings and the test methods, and it applies to the packaging of lint cotton and of linters. The technical requirements cover the bagging and the strapping: the woven fabric wrapping with its breaking strength and elongation measured to GB/T 3923.1 and its density to GB/T 4668, the plastic film and sheet wrapping with its thickness measured to GB/T 6672 and its tensile properties to GB/T 1040.3-2006 and its resistance to light ageing assessed by the xenon arc and fluorescent UV exposures of GB/T 16422.2 and GB/T 16422.3, the steel strapping with its tensile properties to GB/T 228.1, and the cotton and polyester strapping of GH/T 1068. The packaging method clause sets the bale dimensions, the wrapping and the number, position and tension of the straps, and the marking clause sets what must appear on the bale, which ties back to the grading of the cotton itself under GB 1103.1 for saw ginned upland cotton and GB 1103.2 for roller ginned upland cotton. Issued on 31 December 2013 and in force since 1 April 2014, it replaces GB 6975-2007.

Foreword

All the technical contents of this standard is mandatory. This standard was drafted in accordance with GB/T 1.1-2009 given rules. This standard replaces GB 6975-2007 "cotton packaging." This standard compared with GB 6975-2007, the main technical changes are as follows:

--- Remove the GB 6975-2007 in 200kg package type II, III type cladding to the original type II package;

--- Increased bale plastic bags of basic production requirements, increases its elongation at break and aging index indicators;

--- Strapping material removed specifications phi2.5mm, phi3.2mm, phi3.75mm, phi4.0mm galvanized steel, carbon steel strip And high-strength steel;

--- The "plastic strapping" name to "cotton polyester strapping for packaging" to increase their joint tensile force and peel force joint performance index;

--- Increase in cotton joint overlap length and surface of the packaging polyester strapping marked content. The standard proposed by China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives.
