Scope
GB 16912-2008 is the English-translated version of 深度冷冻法生产氧气及相关气体安全技术规程.
China's mandatory safety technical regulation for oxygen and related gases produced by the cryogenic method. An air separation unit liquefies air and distils it into oxygen, nitrogen and argon, and it presents two hazards that have destroyed plants. The first is oxygen itself: at high concentration it makes materials burn that do not normally burn at all, including steel, and a trace of oil or grease in an oxygen line ignites spontaneously under pressure - which is why oxygen service demands degreasing to a standard no other gas requires. The second is hydrocarbon accumulation: acetylene and other hydrocarbons drawn in with the air concentrate in the liquid oxygen in the main condenser, and if they reach their solubility limit the result is a detonation inside the coldbox. The regulation covers the design, materials, cleanliness, purge and monitoring that prevent both.

1 Scope
The rules of the industry related to the production of oxygen and gas (including design, manufacture, installation, alteration, repair), storage, distribution and use should be Compliance with safety requirements. The order applies to new construction, expansion and renovation of the use of oxygen and production of associated gas deep freezing unit.
