1 Foreword

JB/T 9179.3-2013 was issued by MIIT on 31 December 2013 and has been in force since 1 July 2014.

It replaces the earlier edition JB/T 9179.3-1999.

It is one of 15 parts of the JB/T 9179 series.

2 Scope

This standard is a recommended machinery industry standard of China that sets the machining allowances and tolerances of stepped-shaft steel forgings made by open-die forging on a hydraulic press. Stepped shafts of circular, square and rectangular cross-section all fall inside it. For these shafts the document states how much metal is left on for machining and what departure from the forged dimension is accepted. Its Chinese classification is J32 and its international classification 77.140.85. Among the standards it quotes are JB/T 9179.1-2013 and JB/T 9179.2-2013. It replaces JB/T 9179.3-1999.
