1 Foreword

JB/T 9179.1-2013 was issued by MIIT on 31 December 2013 and has been in force since 1 July 2014.

It replaces the earlier edition JB/T 9179.1-1999.

It is one of 15 parts of the JB/T 9179 series.

2 Scope

JB/T 9179.1-2013 is a recommended Chinese machinery industry standard holding the general requirements for machining allowances and tolerances on steel forgings made by open-die forging on a hydraulic press. Steel forgings shaped by that forging route are what it applies to. It sets the general rules that govern how an allowance and a tolerance are stated for such a forging. The document is classified J32 in the Chinese system and 77.140.85 in the international one. Among the standards it quotes are JB/T 9179.2-2013, JB/T 9179.4-2013, JB/T 9179.6-2013 and JB/T 9179.8-2013. It supersedes JB/T 9179.1-1999.
