Scope

GB/T 8233-2018 is the English-translated version of 芝麻油.

GB/T 8233-2018 is the Chinese national product standard for sesame seed oil.

It sets the terms and definitions, including sesame oil made from sesame seeds and crude sesame oil, which is unrefined and cannot be eaten directly, together with the classification of the products, the quality requirements, the inspection methods and rules, and the labelling, packaging, storage and transport of the oil.

It covers crude sesame oil, small-mill sesame oil and refined sesame oil, and the quality indices for crude oil apply only to its trading.

Its test methods refer to the national methods for fatty acids, peroxide value, acid value, moisture and volatile matter, insoluble impurities, iodine and saponification values, relative density and refractive index.

It replaces GB/T 8233-2008, was issued on 14 May 2018 and has applied since 1 December 2018.

Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This standard replaces GB/T 8233-2008 "sesame oil." Compared with GB/T 8233-2008, the main technical changes in this standard are as follows.

--- Modify the definition of some terms (see 3.3, 3.5, 2008 version 3.1, 3.3);

--- Added terminology and definition of "small sesame sesame oil" (see 3.4);

--- Deleted some of the terms and definitions (3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 3.7, and 3.8 of the 2008 edition);

--- Modified classification (see Chapter 4, Chapter 4 of the 2008 edition);

--- Modify the quality requirements (see 5.1, 5.2, 2008 version 5.1, 5.2).

1 Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, quality requirements, inspection methods and rules, labels, packaging, storage and transportation of sesame oil.

This standard applies to sesame oil, sesame oil, sesame sesame oil, sesame sesame oil and refined sesame oil. The quality index of sesame oil is only Applicable to the trading of crude oil.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Sesame oil

Sesame seeds made from raw materials for the oil.

3.2 Crude sesame oil

The sesame seeds obtained by sesame seeds or pressing method and the sesame residue obtained by the water-generation method are unrefined and can not be eaten directly from the solvent leaching process.
