Scope

GB/T 6669-2026 is the English-translated version of 软质泡沫聚合材料压缩永久变形的测定.

A method for determining compression set of flexible cellular polymeric materials, such as foams used in cushioning and upholstery, is the subject of this recommended national standard. Compression set describes how far a material fails to recover after being held under compression, which makes it a routine property for evaluating foam quality. It adopts an international standard.

Foam producers, furniture, bedding and automotive seat manufacturers, quality control departments and independent test laboratories are the usual users. It replaces GB/T 6669-2008, so laboratories and specifications that cite the earlier number should be updated.

As a GB/T document it is recommended rather than mandatory, though contracts and product specifications often make such methods binding between the parties. It was issued on 30 July 2026 under the responsibility of the China National Light Industry Council and takes effect on 1 February 2027.

This edition replaces GB/T 6669-2008.
