3.1 Pressure
Unless otherwise stated, pressure all refers to the gauge pressure.
3.2 Bursting disc safety device
It refers to the pressure relief safety device that is composed of such assemblies as bursting disc (or bursting disc assembly) and bursting disc holder (or supporting ring).
The bursting disc will act (crack or fall off) and discharge the pressure medium immediately when the pressure difference between both sides of the bursting disc reaches the pre-set value at the pre-set temperature.
3.3 Bursting disc
It refers to the pressure sensitive device that is in the bursting disc device and is able to act rapidly due to overpressure.
3.4 Bursting disc assembly
It refers to the assembly combined by two or more such parts as bursting disc, back pressure support, stiffening ring and anticorrosion lining, which is also called assemble-type bursting disc.
3.5 Conventional domed bursting disc (also referred to as. forward-acting)
The pressure sensitive device acts like a conventional domed shape. The concave surface of the dome is located at the high pressure side of the pressure system after installation. The tensile failure will occur on this device when it actuates.
