Scope

GB/T 37816-2019 is the English-translated version of 承压设备安全泄放装置选用与安装.

GB/T 37816-2019 gives the basic technical requirements for choosing and installing safety relief devices on pressure equipment.

It covers pressure vessels, industrial piping and other pressure-bearing equipment, and deals in turn with safety valves, rupture disc devices, fusible alloy plug relief devices, pin-type relief devices and combined relief devices, after a clause of general requirements.

An informative Annex A shows how the required safe discharge capacity of the equipment and the discharge capacity of the relief device are calculated.

It does not apply to boilers, gas cylinders, oxygen chambers and non-metallic pressure equipment, to equipment for military and nuclear facilities, to aerospace vehicles, railway locomotives, offshore installations and ships, or to pressure equipment used underground in mines. It was issued on 30 August 2019 and has applied since 1 March 2020.

Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the basic technical requirements for the selection and installation of safety relief devices for pressure vessels, industrial pipes and other pressure-bearing equipment.

This standard is applicable to safety relief devices for pressure vessels, industrial pipelines, etc.

This standard does not apply to the following pressure equipment.

---Boiler, gas cylinder, oxygen chamber, non-metallic pressure equipment;

--- Pressure equipment for military equipment and nuclear facilities;

---Aerospace vehicles, railway locomotives, offshore installations and ships, and pressure equipment used underground in mines;

--- During the operation process, pressure equipment may be generated, and the pressure is increased when the reaction speed reaches the detonation.

Note: Detonation means that the burning speed is extremely fast, reaching more than 1000m/s, which is completely different from the normal detonation.

3 Terms and definitions

GB/T 150.1, GB/T 567.1~567.3, GB/T 12241, GB/T 12242, GB/T 20801.1, TSGZF001 And the following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Safety relief device

In emergency or abnormal conditions, it can be automatically turned on to prevent the failure of the pressure equipment due to overpressure of the internal fluid medium.

3.2 Non-reclosing safety relief device

Pressure relief device that cannot be closed after operation or cannot be automatically closed.
