Scope
GB/T 41988-2022 is the English-translated version of 公共安全 虹膜识别应用 图像技术要求.
GB/T 41988-2022 sets the technical requirements an iris image must meet when it is used in public security iris recognition, and clause 1 says it applies to the collection, storage and recognition of such images.
Clause 3 builds the geometry those requirements rest on: it takes its terms from GB/T 41786-2022 and adds the iris centre and iris radius, obtained by fitting a circle model to the outer boundary of the iris, and the pupil centre and pupil radius, obtained the same way from the inner boundary.
Its contents list covers symbols and abbreviations, the technical requirements themselves, example iris images, an informative Annex A on methods for estimating eye inclination, gaze elevation and gaze azimuth, and an informative Annex B of example images. Issued on 14 October 2022, it has applied since 1 May 2023.

3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 41786-2022 and the following apply to this document.
3.1 Iris center
The position of the circle center to fit the outer boundary of the iris with the circle model.
3.2 Iris radius
The radius of the circle that fits the outer boundary of the iris with the circle model. Example: see Figure 1.
3.3 Pupil center
The position of the circle center to fit the inner boundary of the iris with the circle model.
