Scope
GB/T 41008-2021 is the English-translated version of 生物降解饮用吸管.
GB/T 41008-2021 specifies biodegradable drinking straws. It covers terms and definitions, classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, transport and storage.
It applies to straws made of biodegradable resin, to straws whose food-contact layer is covered, coated or laminated with biodegradable plastics, and to straws made mainly from natural polymer materials, but not to straws made of pure paper.
The methods it refers to include aerobic and anaerobic biodegradability in aqueous media, compost, soil, sludge digestion and marine sediment, disintegration under composting pilot conditions, ash and moisture content, element analysis by atomic absorption spectrometry and ICP-MS, and sampling by attributes.
Straw makers and testing laboratories use it. It was issued on 26 November 2021 and has applied since 1 June 2022.
