Scope

GB/T 40918-2021 is the English-translated version of 聚苯乙烯户外仿木板材通用技术要求.

GB/T 40918-2021 sets the general technical requirements for outdoor wood-imitation boards made mainly of polystyrene, with foaming agents, anti-aging agents and other additives, and produced by extrusion.

It defines the terms used, including wood-imitation as a process that imitates the texture of natural wood, and specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transport and storage of the boards.

The test methods it draws on include plastics standards for water absorption, deflection temperature under load, Izod impact strength and fluorescent UV lamp exposure, wood standards for nail holding power and physical and chemical properties, GB 8624 for burning behaviour and GB 18580 for formaldehyde emission, with sampling to GB/T 2828.1.

Manufacturers and testing laboratories can use it to assess such boards. It was issued on 26 November 2021 and has applied since 1 June 2022.
