Scope
GB/T 36511-2018 is the English-translated version of 直升机用水下应急呼吸器.
GB/T 36511-2018 covers the underwater emergency breathing apparatus carried for helicopter occupants, which lets them breathe after a helicopter ditches. The apparatus is typically made up of a mouthpiece, a lung valve mechanism, a hose, a gas cylinder and a pressure reducer with manual switch, safety valve, filling nozzle and pressure gauge.
The standard sets requirements for performance, environmental adaptability, ergonomics, appearance, interfaces and interchangeability, and materials.
Its test methods include underwater physiological performance, gas supply time, air tightness, safety valve opening pressure, supply flow, inhalation and exhalation resistance, and storage, low pressure, temperature shock, damp heat, salt spray and mould tests.
It also gives inspection rules, marking, accompanying documents, packaging, transport and storage. It was issued on 13 July 2018 and has applied since 1 February 2019.
