GB/T 47374-2026 is the Chinese national standard covering the chemical oxygen generator above an airliner seat - a sodium chlorate candle that produces oxygen by burning, which is why it is also one of the most dangerous items ever carried as cargo. It fixes the construction, the oxygen output and duration, the surface temperature, the initiation and the safety and transport requirements. First edition, in force since 1 November 2026. It was issued on 30 April 2026 and takes effect on 1 November 2026, as a first edition. The document is under the responsibility of the Standardization Administration of China. 6 Inspection Rules
6.1 Inspection Classification The inspection categories specified in this document are as follows:
a) Factory inspection;
b) Type testing.
6.2 Inspection conditions Unless otherwise specified, the test shall be conducted under the following conditions.
a) Measuring tools and instruments used for inspection and measurement shall conform to the provisions of national or industry standards and be verified by a qualified metrological verification machine. The measuring instruments and equipment must be certified as qualified and used within their validity period. The measuring range and accuracy of the measuring tools and equipment should meet the requirements for product testing and inspection.
b) The test conditions shall comply with the provisions of Chapter 4 of HB6167.1-2014.
6.3 Factory Inspection
6.3.1 Each chemical oxygen generator shall undergo factory inspection and obtain a product quality inspection certificate.
6.3.2 Factory inspection items shall be carried out in accordance with
5.1 and 5.2 (unfired state). If any test fails during factory inspection, the cause should be identified, the issue corrected, and the relevant test performed again. If the requirements still cannot be met, the investigation should continue. If the result is unsatisfactory, the inspection and testing will be deemed unqualified.
6.4 Type Testing Type testing should be conducted in the following situations.
a) After the product has been identified and approved, the manufacturer will conduct its first trial production or small-batch trial production.
b) Changes in the design or process of a chemical oxygen generator may cause changes in certain characteristics and parameters.
c) The inspection results show an unacceptable deviation from the previous type test results.
d) Chemical oxygen generators produced in batches shall be subject to periodic random inspections, once a year. When the number of generators requiring inspection is too large, the inspection interval may be adjusted. Extend the period appropriately, but conduct random checks at least once every two years. For type testing, 5% of the total number of products that have passed factory inspection are randomly selected, but no fewer than 2 pieces. If any of these pieces are found to be defective, a penalty will be imposed. If a test fails, the number of samples for that test should be doubled. If the test still fails, the batch of products is considered unqualified. Type testing items should include all performance testing items specified in this document.
7 Delivery Preparation
7.1 Protective Packaging The sealing and packaging of chemical oxygen generators shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions of HB5028.
7.2 Packing The packing of chemical oxygen generators shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions of HB5028.
7.3 Transportation and Storage The transportation and storage of chemical oxygen generators shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions of HB5028.
7.4 Marking The packaging markings of chemical oxygen generators should comply with the requirements of GB/T 191, including "Keep away from sunlight", "Keep away from radiation", "Keep away from rain", and "Do not roll".
