Scope

GB/T 3555-2022 is the English-translated version of 石油产品赛波特颜色的测定 赛波特比色计法.

GB/T 3555-2022 is the Chinese national method for reading the Saybolt colour of a petroleum product on a Saybolt colorimeter. It applies to refined products - undyed motor gasoline, aviation gasoline, jet fuel, naphtha, kerosene, white oil and petroleum wax - over a range from Saybolt colour number -16 to 30.

It sets the requirements for the colorimeter, the water bath or oven, the beaker and the funnel, and adds chapters on reagents and materials and on sampling. It gives the preparation of the sample, the reading procedures for refined light oils, white oils and waxes, the precision and the bias, and an annex on the lighting of the instrument.

It cites GB/T 2539, GB/T 4756, GB/T 27867, SH/T 0132 and SH/T 0229. It replaces GB/T 3555-1992, was issued on 11 July 2022 and has applied since 1 November 2022.

This document replaces GB/T 3555-1992 "Petroleum product Saybolt color determination method (saybot colorimeter method)", and compared with GB/T 3555-1992, except for structural adjustment and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

a) Added 4 terms and definitions (see 3.1~3.4);

b) Added the technical requirements for "water bath or oven", "beaker" and "funnel" (see Chapter 5);

c) sample melting temperature increased by "melting point" (see 5.2, 9.4);

d) The chapter "Reagents and Materials" has been added (see Chapter 6);

e) the chapter "Sampling" was added (see Chapter 8);

f) The preparation method of the sample has been changed (see 9.1~9.4, Chapter 7 of the 1992 edition);

g) Added description about bubbles (see 10.1.1);

h) Modified the operation procedure for the determination of the color of refined light oil and white oil samples (see 10.1.3, 8.1.3 of the 1992 edition);

i) Changed the operation procedure for the determination of the color of petroleum wax samples (see 10.2.1, 8.2.1 of the 1992 edition);

j) Changed the precision description (see 12.1.2, 12.1.3, Chapter 9 of the 1992 edition);

k) Added the deviation and its description (see 12.2);

l) Changed the requirements for instrument lighting in Appendix A (see A.1.6, A1.7 of the 1992 edition).

Introduction

Color is an important quality characteristic of petroleum products. Color is easily observed by product users and is mainly used for production control. exist In some cases, color can be used as an indicator of the degree of refinement of the raw material. If the color range of a particular product is known, then when If the color is out of the determined range, the sample may be contaminated. However, color is not always a reliable indicator of product quality, especially in product specifications to be screened for use.
