Scope
GB/T 27629-2011 is the English-translated version of 毛绒束纤维断裂强度试验方法.
GB/T 27629-2011 fixes the test method for the breaking tenacity of animal fibre bundles, naming sheep wool in its greasy, scoured and carbonised states and as wool top, cashmere, camel hair and yak hair among the fibres covered.
Clause 1 states that the standard applies to breaking tenacity tests on bundles of such fibres.
Its contents list names a scope clause, normative references, terms and definitions, clause 4 on the test principle, clause 5 on the test conditions, clause 6 on the instruments and appliances, clause 7 on setting up the instrument and clause 8 on the test method, followed by the informative Annex A giving the technical requirements for the fibre bundle breaking strength tester and Annex B giving a table of correction factors.
Clause 3 defines the breaking force as the greatest force recorded in newtons when a specimen is pulled apart under the specified conditions, the breaking tenacity as the ratio of that force to the linear density of the fibre bundle in newtons per kilotex, the breaking load as the maximum load applied when the specimen is stretched to rupture, and the elongation as the increase in specimen length in millimetres caused by the pulling force.
Among the normative references are the standard conditioning and testing atmosphere of GB/T 6529 and the rounding rules of GB/T 8170, and the product standards of the fibres concerned — GB 1523 for wool, GB/T 9998 for Xining wool, GB/T 19722 for scoured wool, GB/T 6976 for the staple length test of natural wool, GB/T 12412 for raw yak cashmere, GB 18267 for cashmere, GB/T 21977 for camel cashmere — and also GB/T 16254 for mohair and GB/T 13832 for long-haired (ChangMaoTu) rabbit.
The standard was proposed and is administered by the China Fibre Inspection Bureau and was drafted by that bureau with the fibre inspection bureaus of Hebei province and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the Jiangsu entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau and a Wenzhou textile instrument manufacturer. It was issued on 30 December 2011 and has applied since 1 March 2012.

3.1 Breaking force
Tensile testing process carried out under specified conditions, the sample pulled off the maximum force recorded, in newtons (N).
3.2 Breaking strength
Breaking strength of the fiber bundle linear density ratio, in newtons per kilotex (N/ktex).
3.3 Breaking load
The sample was stretched to breaking when applied to its maximum load.
3.4 Extension
Due to the pulling force caused by the incremental length of the specimen in millimeters (mm).
