Scope
GB/T 41558-2022 is the English-translated version of 毛丛长度强度试验方法.
GB/T 41558-2022 is the Chinese test method for the length and the strength of wool staples. It describes how the mean tuft length, the mean tuft strength and the breaking position of greasy wool are determined, and it applies to greasy sheep wool in tuft form.
It defines the staple as a well-defined, distinct fibre bundle isolated from a mass of greasy wool, the tuft of staples as the one to twenty staples taken out by a snatcher or by hand in a single operation, and the staple length as the length measured along the axis of the tuft with the fibres unstretched and the crimp undamaged.
It cites GB/T 27629 for the breaking strength of the fibre bundle and GB/T 8170 for rounding the results. It was issued on 11 July 2022 and has applied since 1 February 2023.
