Foreword

This document was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents.

This document replaces GB/T 16254-2008 Mohair. Compared with GB/T 16254-2008, apart from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

- the definitions of mohair, skirtings and kemp have been changed, the definitions of defective wool, burry wool, yellow-stained wool, branded wool, coloured wool and cotted wool have been deleted, and the definitions of vegetable matter content and foreign matter content have been added (see Clause 3; Clause 3 of the 2008 edition);

- the requirements have been changed (see Clause 5; Clause 5 of the 2008 edition);

- the provisions on the sampling method for mohair have been changed (see 6.1; 6.1 of the 2008 edition);

- the description of apparatus and tools has been deleted (see Clause 7 of the 2008 edition);

- the test method for the mean diameter of mohair has been changed (see 7.2; 8.2 of the 2008 edition);

- the test method for non-animal fibre content has been changed (see 7.8; 8.9 of the 2008 edition);

- the test method for the gross weight of mohair has been changed (see 7.9.1; 8.7.1 of the 2008 edition);

- the inspection rules have been changed (see Clause 8; Clause 9 of the 2008 edition);

- the packaging provisions for mohair have been changed (see 9.1.1; 10.1.1 of the 2008 edition).

1 Scope

This document specifies the classification, requirements, sampling, inspection rules, packaging, marking, storage and transportation of mohair, and describes the corresponding test methods.

This document is applicable to the production, trading, processing, use and quality assessment of mohair.

3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB 1523, GB/T 5706, GB/T 11951 and FZ/T 01057 (all parts) and the following apply.

4 Classification

Mohair is divided into two classes: kid mohair and adult goat mohair.
