Scope
GB/T 19704-2019 is the English-translated version of 水文仪器显示与记录.
GB/T 19704-2019 is the Chinese national standard for the display and recording devices of hydrological instruments. It sets their classification, technical requirements and test methods, and applies to the design, manufacture, inspection, testing and use of such devices.
It sorts them by form, stand-alone or built into the instrument; by display mode, electronic or characters printed and scored on the instrument for manual reading; and by recording method, digital storage in a semiconductor memory or a non-digital trace on paper.
The requirements cover appearance, environmental adaptability, signal interface, lightning and interference protection, performance, display, record and reliability, followed by the test conditions, equipment and methods.
It cites GB/T 9359, GB/T 13983, GB/T 18185, GB/T 19677, GB/T 19705, GB/T 50095 and SL 149. It replaces GB/T 19704-2005, was issued on 4 June 2019 and has applied since 1 January 2020.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 19704-2005 "Hydrological Instrument Display and Record", compared with GB/T 19704-2005, except for editorial repair in addition, the main technical content changes are as follows.
--- The scope has been modified (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the 2005 edition);
--- Modified the classification (see Chapter 4, Chapter 4 of the 2005 edition);
--- Added "GB/T 13983 Instrumentation Basic Terminology" "GB/T 17626.8 Electromagnetic Compatibility Test and Measurement Technology Normative reference to "frequency magnetic field immunity test" and "General technical conditions for SL149 hydrological data solid state storage device";
References to the "small batch count sampling inspection procedures and sampling tables for GB/T 13264 nonconforming product rates";
--- Modified the performance statement on the record (see 5.5, 5.7, 2005 version 5.1.4, 5.1.5, 5.1.6, 5.3);
--- Removed the "print record" aspect (see 5.3.2 of the 2005 edition);
--- Modified "Test conditions and methods" (see Chapter 6, Chapter 6 of the 2005 edition).
1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification, technical requirements and test methods for the display and recording of hydrological instruments.
This standard applies to the design, manufacture, inspection, testing and use of hydrological instrument display and recording devices.

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 13983, GB/T 19677 and GB/T 50095 apply to this document.
4 Classification
4.1 Form
Display and record are divided into:
a) Stand-alone: display and recording functions are implemented by separate devices;
b) Functional: the display and recording functions are integrated in the hydrological instrument.
4.2 Display mode
Display and record are divided into display modes:
a) electronic: display digital, graphic, text, symbol and color standard in various electronic display devices;
b) Characterization, character display: the font is fixedly printed and scored on the measuring instrument and used as manual observation data.
4.3 Recording method
Display and record are divided into recording methods:
a) digital: store hydrological data in a semiconductor memory according to certain rules;
b) Non-digital: the process of changing the hydrological data over time is recorded on paper.
