Scope
GB/T 21978.6-2008 is the English-translated version of 降水量观测仪器 第6部分:融雪型雨雪量计.
GB/T 21978.6-2008 is the part of GB/T 21978 on instruments for precipitation observation that covers the melted snow type rain and snow recorder, which the draft calls the snowmelt rain and snow meter.
Clause 1 states that this part specifies the classification and composition, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and signs, instructions, packaging, transportation and storage of that instrument, and that it applies to instruments which automatically measure the total amount of rain and snow by using methods such as heating or antifreeze to melt snow into liquid precipitation, namely rain, snow and sleet.
The same clause states that this part does not apply to snow meters that measure snowfall directly without melting the snow.
The draft shows clause 1 Scope, clause 2 Normative references and clause 3 Terms and Definitions and breaks off at the end of clause 3, so the classification, requirement and test clauses the scope announces do not appear on the page.
Clause 2 cites GB/T 9359-2001, GB/T 13264, GB/T 17626.5-1999, GB/T 18185-2000, GB/T 18522.2, GB/T 18522.6, GB/T 19677, GB/T 19704-2005, GB/T 19705-2005 and SL 21.
Clause 3 carries three definitions whose term names the draft does not print: a special liquid of lowered freezing point, with good snow melting performance at low temperature and a density less than or close to that of water, which does not freeze within the range of the instrument use environment; a vessel charged with a set quantity of that liquid, into which falling snow melts; and a capped container with the liquid built in that has a function for replenishing a measured quantity of it at intervals.
The foreword records that GB/T 21978 is divided into seven parts, on rain gauges, the tipping bucket rain gauge, the siphon rain gauge, the float rain gauge, the telemetry rain gauge, the snowmelt snow meter and the optical snow meter, that this part was proposed by the Ministry of Water Resources of the People's Republic of China and that it is administered by TC199/SC1.
The page names no earlier edition of this part; it was issued on 17 June 2008 and has applied since 1 October 2008.

This section GB/T 21978 Part 6.
This section proposed by the People's Republic of China Ministry of Water Resources.
This part of the National Technical Committee of Standardization Technical Committee hydrological hydrological instruments (TC199/SC1) centralized.
This part mainly drafted by. MWR hydrological instruments and geotechnical engineering Instrument Quality Supervision and Testing Center, Nanjing Auto Hydrological The Institute.
1 Scope
This section GB/T 21978 specifies the amount of rain and snow Snowmelt meter (hereinafter referred to sleet meter) Classification and composition, technical requirements, test Methods, inspection rules and signs, instructions, packaging, transportation and storage.
This section applies to the use of methods such as heating or antifreeze snow melt into liquid after the precipitation (rain, snow, sleet) automatic measurement of the amount of Total amount of rain and snow.
This section does not apply to snow melt will not be directly measured snowfall Snow meter.
