Foreword

This standard replaces GB/T 16414-1996 "coal mine rock mechanics and scientific terms." This standard and GB/T 16414-1996 compared to the main changes are as follows:

--- Revised Chapter 2 ~ Chapter 5 chapter heading, by deleting the heading "section" word;

--- "Basic terminology" added "surrounding rock deformation, rock (body) inhomogeneity of rock (body) ductile" and other terms;

1 Scope

GB/T 16414-2008 is the Chinese national standard on terms relating to coal mining - rock mechanics, in the field of generalities, terminology and documentation. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 29 July 2008 by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 May 2009. This standard specifies the basic terminology of coal mine rock mechanics and terminology related to coal mining face, rock burst roadway and the like. This standard applies to documents, rules, standards, books, textbooks and manuals and all other relevant rock mechanics.

2 Basic terms
