This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part

1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 16124-1995 "Technical Specification for Medical Evaluation of Environmental Impacts of Water Conservancy and Hydropower Projects" and GB/T 16124- Compared with.1995, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the technical changes are as follows:

1 Scope

GB/T 16124-2025 is the Chinese national standard on technical specification for environmental health impact assessment of water conservancy and hydropower project, in the field of environment and health protection, safety. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 1 August 2025 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 February 2026. This document specifies the overall requirements and contents of environmental health impact assessment for water conservancy and hydropower projects, and describes the assessment and prediction methods. This document is applicable to the health impact of large and medium-sized water conservancy and hydropower projects such as flood control, water supply, and power generation during the feasibility study stage of new, modified, and expanded projects. Small water conservancy and hydropower projects shall be implemented as a reference.
