Scope
GB/T 36788-2018 is the English-translated version of 病媒生物密度监测方法 蜱类.
GB/T 36788-2018 sets out the Chinese national methods for monitoring the density of ticks, as part of the surveillance of disease vectors. It covers four methods: the cloth flag method, manual collection, inspection of the host animal's body and the burrow method.
It defines ticks, tick density, the tick infestation rate and free ticks, with density expressed as infestation rate (R), density (D) and density index (I).
For the cloth flag method, used for free ticks in grassland, desert, shrubland and forest, it specifies a 60 cm x 90 cm white cotton flag fixed to a rod, protective clothing, and instruments such as pedometer, tweezers, test tubes, timer, range finder and GPS locator, followed by the operating steps.
It applies to monitoring tick density and tick species, was issued on 17 September 2018 and has applied since 1 April 2019.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the method for monitoring the density of mites, including the cloth flag method, artificial trapping method, host body inspection method and cave method.
This standard applies to the monitoring of radon density and radon species.
2 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
2.1 Ticks
The arachnid is a subfamily of the subgenus.
2.2 Tick density
The number of defects detected in the unit host table or unit time space. Dyeing rate (R), enthalpy density (D) and density index (I).
2.3 Infested rate of ticks
The number of scorpion animals as a percentage of the total number of animals surveyed.
2.4 Free tick
There are no cockroaches that are parasitic on the host.
3 Monitoring methods
3.1 Cloth flag method
3.1.1 Scope of application
It is suitable for monitoring free mites in grasslands, deserts, bushes, inter-forest grasslands and forest areas in the natural environment.
3.1.2 Appliances
Cloth flag. a white cotton cloth (or white flannel) is used to make a 60cm × 90cm flag, and a 60cm side is fixed at 100cm ~ 120cm on the rod; the other is to fix the 90cm side to the rod, and the two ends of the rod are tied with a strong string or nylon rope, see Appendix A Figure A.1.
Protective clothing. including five tight suits (neckline, cuffs, garments that can be tightly tied), long white socks and white hats and gloves.
Instruments. pedometer, tweezers, test tubes, timers, range finder, GPS locator.
3.1.3 Operation steps
Investigators dressed in protective clothing in the bushes and forests can hold the flag, walking on the beast (the road where animals often move), left and right […]
