Scope

GB/T 26350-2026 is the English-translated version of 蝇类抗药性检测方法 家蝇生物测定法.

GB/T 26350-2026 gives laboratory bioassay methods for measuring the resistance of the house fly, Musca domestica, to organophosphate, carbamate, pyrethroid and neonicotinoid insecticides.

It specifies the test insects, both adults and larvae, the instruments and the test conditions, and two approaches: the susceptible baseline method, which establishes the response of a susceptible strain, and the diagnostic dose method, which checks a field population against a dose that kills almost all susceptible flies.

Exposure is by topical application, residual film or diet incorporation, and the document covers how mortality is judged, data processing and the presentation of results, with an informative annex of lethal doses for common insecticides.

Issued on 2 July 2026 and applicable from 1 February 2027, it replaces GB/T 26350-2010.

Foreword

This document conforms to GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents".

This document replaces GB/T 26350-2010. Compared with GB/T 26350-2010, apart from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

a) The terms "susceptible strain", "test population" and "diet incorporation method" and their definitions have been added (see 3.1, 3.2 and 3.6), the term "F1 generation" has been deleted (see 2.2 of the 2010 edition) and the term "diagnostic dose" has been changed (see 3.3; 2.1 of the 2010 edition);

b) The requirements for test insects, reagents, and instruments have been changed (see Chapters 4 to 6; Chapters 3 to 5 of the 2010 edition);

c) The test conditions have been changed (see Chapter 7, Chapter 6 in the 2010 edition);

d) The operating procedures for the susceptible baseline method by the residual film method and the topical application method have been modified (see 8.2.1 and 8.2.2; 7.2 of the 2010 edition);

e) The operating procedures for the diagnostic dose method by the residual film method and the topical application method have been modified (see 9.2.1 and 9.2.2; 8.2 of the 2010 edition);

f) The procedure for the diet incorporation method in the susceptible baseline method has been added (see 8.2.3);

g) Added a determination of larval mortality (see 8.3.2);

h) A description of data processing has been added (see 8.4);

i) The procedure for the diet incorporation method in the diagnostic dose method has been added (see 9.2.3).

1 Scope

This document concerns the resistance of the house fly (Musca domestica) to organophosphate, carbamate, pyrethroid and neonicotinoid insecticides.

It specifies the requirements for the test insects, instruments and test conditions used in resistance testing, and describes the bioassay methods by the susceptible baseline method and the diagnostic dose method.

This document applies to laboratory bioassays of insecticide resistance in houseflies.

2 Normative references

This document has no normative references.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Susceptible strain

A test insect population that is genetically relatively uniform and, never having been exposed to insecticides, remains susceptible to them.

3.2 Test population

A population of target insects collected from specific locations and times in the wild for pesticide sensitivity testing.

3.3 Diagnostic dose

The insecticide dose that kills 99% or 99.9% of individuals of a susceptible strain [99% lethal dose (LD99) or 99.9% lethal dose (LD99.9)], or a multiple of it, or the corresponding concentration [99% lethal concentration (LC99) or 99.9% lethal concentration (LC99.9)].

3.4 Topical application method

A quantitative dose of pesticide solution is applied to a specific location on the body surface of the test insect. The insecticide penetrates the body wall and enters the insect's body, causing poisoning. A bioassay method for determining the contact toxicity of an insecticide.

3.5 Residual film method

A measured amount of insecticide solution is applied to the surface of a carrier to form a uniform insecticide film; the test insects crawl on the film, take up the insecticide by contact and are poisoned. A bioassay method for determining the contact toxicity of insecticides.

3.6 Diet incorporation method

A bioassay method in which the target insects are fed with artificial diet containing the insecticide.
