Scope
GB/T 14405-2011 is the English-translated version of 通用桥式起重机.
China's national standard for general purpose bridge cranes - the overhead travelling cranes that span a workshop or a bay on rails carried by the building structure, and the machine on which most heavy manufacturing depends for moving anything. It specifies the types and basic parameters, the technical requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules, and the marking, packaging, transport and storage of general purpose bridge cranes. The basic parameters are the operative part commercially: the rated capacity, the span, the lifting height, the speeds of hoisting, cross travel and long travel, the working class and the wheel loads. The last two are what a building designer needs and what a crane purchaser most often gets wrong. The working class expresses how hard the crane will be used - the load spectrum and the number of cycles - and it is what determines the fatigue design of the structure and the mechanisms rather than their static strength; a crane bought on capacity alone and used harder than its class will not fail by overload, it will crack. And the wheel loads are what the runway beams and the building columns are designed to, so a crane substituted for another of the same capacity but different geometry can overload a structure that was correct for the original. The technical requirements cover the bridge and end carriages and their design, the hoisting, cross travel and long travel mechanisms with their motors and brakes, the ropes and the hook, the electrical equipment and the power supply along the runway, the operator's cab or the pendant or radio control, and the safety devices - the overload protection, the limits, the rail clamps and buffers and the emergency stops. The test clause sets the no-load, rated load and overload tests by which a crane is accepted. Issued on 12 May 2011 and in force since 1 December 2011, it replaces GB/T 14405-1993.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with GB/T 1.1-2009 given rules. This standard replaces GB/T 14405-1993 "General bridge crane." This standard and GB/T 14405-1993 compared to the main changes are as follows:
--- Modify the definition of nominal weight, and will expand the scope of the rated capacity to 320t;
--- Modify the tolerance requirements wheels, carts and trolley tracks;
--- Adjust the main beam under vertical static deflection indicators;
--- Adjust the camber on the main beam across the requirements;
--- Adjust the minimum temperature of the crane when working outdoors;
--- Adjust the crane speed parameter;
--- Added "About" and "Terms and Definitions";
--- Increase the data "more car" crane;
--- Increased use of high strength steel bolts to connect large hexagonal head and disc brake rotor runout requirements;
--- Increasing the weld surface quality requirements;
--- Added "manipulate terrestrial wired, wireless remote control manipulation and multi-point manipulation" security requirements;
--- Added "shock-prone, pummeling, bump, pinch and other unsafe set at the appropriate safety warning signs" and so on;
--- Increasing the test method main item;
1 Scope
China's national standard for general purpose bridge cranes - the overhead travelling cranes that span a workshop or a bay on rails carried by the building structure, and the machine on which most heavy manufacturing depends for moving anything. This standard specifies the nominal weight of 3.2t ~ 320t bridge crane general classification of the type and basic parameters, technical requirements, test Methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage. This standard applies to work in the general environment in general overhead crane (hereinafter referred to as the crane). Which means to extract the hook or grab Or lifting magnet (electromagnetic sucker), or both made of two or three. For general overhead crane or other part of the same weight is greater than 320t overhead crane's rated capacity, may also refer to use. This standard does not apply to the crane under the following conditions.
