JB/T 7688.8-2015 was issued by MIIT on 30 April 2015 and has been in force since 1 October 2015.

It replaces the earlier edition JB/T 7688.8-1995.

It is one of 24 parts of the JB/T 7688 series.

2 Scope

JB/T 7688.8-2015 belongs to the recommended Chinese machinery industry specifications for metallurgical cranes and carries Part 8, on soaking pit tong cranes. It states the technical requirements for the crane, the test methods and the inspection rules, and it covers marking, packaging, transportation and storage. The crane it describes grips steel ingots standing upright with tongs, charges them into the soaking furnace and lifts them out again to set them on an ingot car or on transport rollers.
