JB/T 7688.1-2026 is Part 1 of the technical specifications for metallurgy cranes and sets out the general requirements. Metallurgy cranes are the cranes used in steel and other metal plants, where they handle hot metal and heavy loads, and this part gives the general requirements for them as a group.

Crane manufacturers, steel and metallurgical plant designers and operators, and buyers and inspectors can use it as a common reference when specifying, supplying and accepting such cranes. The later parts of the series deal with particular crane types. It is a voluntary industry standard, as the /T in its code indicates. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued it on 13 February 2026, and it takes effect on 1 September 2026. It replaces JB/T 7688.1-2008.
