3.1 Bathroom

A space in which users urinate and defecate, bathe, wash their hands and face, do laundry and carry out similar activities.

3.2 Bathroom fixture

A product installed in a bathroom that enables users to urinate and defecate, bathe, wash their hands and face, do laundry and carry out similar activities.

3.3 Residential bathroom

A space in a dwelling in which users urinate and defecate, wash their hands and face, bathe, do laundry and carry out similar activities.

3.4 Hotel bathroom

A space in a hotel guest room in which users urinate and defecate, wash their hands and face, bathe and carry out similar activities.

3.5 Public toilet

A space provided in public places and the like in which members of the public urinate and defecate, wash their hands and face and carry out similar activities.

Note: public toilets are divided into the free-standing type (fixed public toilets not attached to other buildings) and the attached type (fixed public toilets attached to other buildings).

3.6 Integral bathroom

An independent sanitary unit consisting of an integral frame formed by the bathtub and shower tray (or a combination of them), the washbasin and countertop (or a combination of them), the wall panels and the ceiling panels, together with the sanitary ware.

Note: residential bathrooms, hotel bathrooms and public toilets may all adopt an integral bathroom structure. It may provide toilet, hand and face washing, showering and bathing functions, or any combination of these.

3.7 Family toilets

A bathroom for use by the elderly, young children and persons with reduced mobility.

4.1

By service environment, bathrooms are classified as residential bathrooms, hotel bathrooms and public toilets.

Note: public toilets include family toilets, school toilets and the like.

4.2

By structure, bathrooms are classified as integral bathrooms and non-integral bathrooms.

5.1 Residential bathrooms

5.1.1

According to the different functional needs, a residential bathroom may be divided into four basic sanitary units - toilet, bathing, washbasin and laundry - and each sanitary unit may be configured separately or in combination according to the requirements of use.

5.1.2

The configuration requirements for the fixtures of each sanitary unit of a residential bathroom are given in Table 1.

Toilet unit - basic equipment and facilities: WC pan or squatting pan with flushing device, lighting, ventilation equipment; optional equipment and facilities: toilet paper holder, bidet, urinal, children's WC pan, children's urinal, safety grab bar, call device, power supply, etc.

Bathing unit - basic equipment and facilities: shower device or bathtub, floor drain, lighting, ventilation equipment; optional equipment and facilities: sauna room, shower stool, heating equipment, shelves and hooks, safety grab bar, power supply, etc.

Washbasin unit - basic equipment and facilities: washbasin, tap, bathroom mirror, lighting; optional equipment and facilities: children's hand basin, bathroom cabinet, shelves and hooks, power supply, etc.

Laundry unit - basic equipment and facilities: laundry tap, floor drain, power supply; optional equipment and facilities: shelves and hooks, mop sink, etc.

5.2 Hotel bathrooms

5.2.1

According to the different functional needs, a hotel bathroom may be divided into three basic sanitary units - toilet, bathing and washbasin - and each sanitary unit may be configured separately or in combination according to the requirements of use; the corresponding fixtures shall be configured according to the grade of the hotel.

5.2.2

The configuration requirements for the fixtures of each sanitary unit of a hotel bathroom are given in Table 2.

Toilet unit - basic equipment and facilities: WC pan or squatting pan with flushing device, toilet paper holder, lighting, ventilation equipment; optional equipment and facilities: bidet, urinal, call device, power supply, etc.

Bathing unit - basic equipment and facilities: shower device or bathtub, floor drain, lighting, ventilation equipment; optional equipment and facilities: thermostatic tap, heating equipment, power supply, shower screen, etc.

Washbasin unit - basic equipment and facilities: washbasin, tap, bathroom mirror, soap dispenser, lighting; optional equipment and facilities: power supply, hair dryer, hand dryer, etc.

5.3 Public toilets

5.3.1

According to the different functional needs, a public toilet may be divided into two basic sanitary units - toilet and washbasin - and each sanitary unit may be configured separately or in combination according to the requirements of use.

5.3.2

The configuration requirements for the fixtures of the basic sanitary units of a public toilet are given in Table 3.

Toilet unit - basic equipment and facilities: WC pan or squatting pan with flushing device, urinal with flushing device, floor drain, lighting, ventilation equipment; optional equipment and facilities: power supply, etc.

Washbasin unit - basic equipment and facilities: washbasin, tap, bathroom mirror, lighting; optional equipment and facilities: power supply, soap dispenser, hand dryer, etc.

5.3.3

Non-contact fittings should be selected for public toilets.

5.3.4

Public toilets should be provided with family toilets. According to the different functional needs, a family toilet may be divided into basic sanitary units such as the toilet unit, the washbasin unit and the mother-and-baby room. The configuration requirements for the fixtures of the basic sanitary units of a family toilet are given in Table 4.

Toilet unit - basic equipment and facilities: adult toilet position, children's toilet position, children's urinal position, call device, lighting, ventilation equipment, etc.; optional equipment and facilities: power supply, etc.

Washbasin unit - basic equipment and facilities: adult hand basin, children's hand basin, tap, bathroom mirror, lighting, etc.; optional equipment and facilities: power supply, soap dispenser, hand dryer, etc.

Mother-and-baby room - basic equipment and facilities: multifunctional table with baby-changing function, child safety seat, safety grab bar, coat hook and call device; optional equipment and facilities: none specified.

5.3.5

School toilets shall meet the requirements of 5.3.2. The configuration of the fixtures of the basic sanitary units of kindergarten toilets shall meet the requirements of Table 5.

5.4 Integral bathrooms

5.4.1

Residential bathrooms with an integral bathroom structure shall meet the requirements of 5.1.

5.4.2

Hotel bathrooms with an integral bathroom structure shall meet the requirements of 5.2.

5.4.3

Public toilets with an integral bathroom structure shall meet the requirements of 5.3.

6.1

All materials used in bathroom fixtures shall comply with the relevant national and industry standards.

6.2

Parts of products in contact with water shall be made of corrosion-resistant materials; the surfaces of components that directly affect the service life of the product shall be given an anti-corrosion treatment or be made of materials that do not corrode easily.

6.3

All materials used in products that are in direct contact with drinking water shall comply with GB/T 17219. Other materials shall meet the performance requirements for the use of the product.

8.1

After the bathroom fixtures have been connected to the water supply and drainage systems, there shall be no leakage at any connection.

8.2

Where the bathroom drainage pipework has no trap, sanitary appliances with a built-in trap shall be selected, and the depth of the water seal shall be not less than 50 mm.

8.3

Where the bathroom drainage pipework has a trap, sanitary appliances without a trap shall be selected.

8.4

The installation of WC pans shall comply with JC/T 2425.
