GB 43471-2023 is the English-translated version of 光源安全要求.

GB 43471-2023 is the mandatory safety standard for electric light sources - lamps, LED modules, OLED panels and similar products - covering general requirements, marking, electrical safety, temperature-related requirements, mechanical safety, safety under abnormal and fault conditions and at end of life, protection against moisture and dust, and photobiological safety, together with the corresponding verification methods.

It classifies light sources by use into general lighting, special lighting and non-visual task sources (sterilization, curing, heating, cultivation and similar), and by principle into thermal radiation, gas discharge and solid-state (LED and OLED) sources.

Requirements for general lighting sources include marking of origin and rated power on the source, warnings and handling instructions, interchangeability of caps and interfaces, compliance with dimensional standards and protection against accidental contact with live parts; conformity is verified against the relevant product safety standards listed in normative Annex A, such as the GB/T 14196, GB/T 16843, GB/T 24819, GB/T 24906 and GB/T 39075 series.
