Scope
GB 26851-2011 is the English-translated version of 火灾声和/或光警报器.
GB 26851-2011 specifies the classification, requirements, tests, inspection rules and marking of audible and/or visual fire alarm signaling appliances installed in general industrial and civil buildings; appliances with special performance used in other environments also follow it, unless other standards set special requirements.
Appliances are classified by purpose (audible, visual, audible and visual, gas release alarm) and by place of use (indoor, for dwellings or non-dwellings, and outdoor).
The requirements cover sound pressure level (at least 75 dB(A) and at most 120 dB(A) at 3 m, with a 3 s to 5 s low-to-high start for dwelling units), flash frequency of 1 Hz to 2 Hz and visibility at 25 m, luminance of gas release signs, 4 h operational reliability, voltage fluctuation, insulation resistance, 1 250 V electric strength, electromagnetic compatibility, climatic and mechanical endurance, IP33 for outdoor units and instructions for use.
Clause 5 sets out the test methods on six specimens, followed by inspection rules and marking; clauses 4, 6 and 7 are mandatory, and the standard references EN 54-3:2001.
