Scope
GB 24330-2020 is the English-translated version of 家用卫生杀虫用品安全通用技术条件.
GB 24330-2020 specifies the general safety requirements and test methods, covering personal health and environmental protection, for domestic sanitary insecticide products used in households against mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches and similar pests: mosquito coils and incense sticks, electric mosquito mats, liquid vaporizers, insecticide aerosols, sprays, smoke generators, baits, dusts and chalks, repellents and clothing moth-proofing agents.
It requires registered active ingredients and toxicological evaluation, sets the permitted fluctuation of the declared active ingredient content by formulation, and fixes efficacy limits such as KT50 <= 8.0 min for coils, mats and vaporizers and KT50 and mortality values for aerosols and sprays by target insect.
Further requirements cover heat storage stability (degradation <= 5% for p-dichlorobenzene, <= 10% for pyrethroids, <= 15% for others after 14 d at 54 °C), smoke quantity of smokeless and low-smoke coils, the minimum effective period of liquid vaporizers, methanol content and internal pressure of aerosols, net content, hygienic limits for repellents (methanol, lead, arsenic, mercury, cadmium) and the absence of naphthalene in moth-proofing products, each with its test method and annexed determination methods.
It replaces GB 24330-2009, adding requirements for methanol in aerosols, hygienic indicators of repellents and moth-proofing product safety, revising efficacy and stability requirements and methods, and adding determination methods for dichlorobenzenes and naphthalene.
