Scope
GB 14866-2023 is the English-translated version of 眼面防护具通用技术规范.
GB 14866 is the general standard for eye and face protection — safety spectacles, goggles, face shields and the eye protection built into welding equipment. It classifies the products, then sets the general requirements on biocompatibility, structure and adjustment and cleaning, the geometrical optical requirements on field of view and refractive power for both plain and prescription lenses, the physical optical requirements on transmittance, scattered light and reflectance including the recognition of traffic signals for driving use, and the physical and mechanical requirements: basic and high-speed particle impact, heavy object impact, heat and UV resistance, corrosion, flame retardancy and wear. It replaces GB 14866-2006 and GB 32166.1-2016. Issued on 28 December 2023, in force since 1 January 2025. It replaces GB 14866-2006, which is superseded.
