Scope
GB 13094-2017 is the English-translated version of 客车结构安全要求.
GB 13094-2017 specifies the safety requirements for the construction of buses of categories M2 and M3, including trolleybuses; it does not apply to sleeper buses, dedicated school buses, special-purpose buses or off-road buses.
Its requirements cover axle loads and passenger usable area, rollover stability, fire prevention (fuel tanks, wiring, batteries, interior materials, fire detection and extinguishers), the number, location, dimensions and operation of service doors, emergency doors, emergency windows and escape hatches, the interior arrangement with access passages, gangways, steps and seats checked by gauges, interior lighting, articulated sections, handrails and handholds, step-well protection, occupant protection and ventilation.
Normative annexes add requirements for buses with facilities for wheelchair users, the verification of the static rollover limit calculation, the measurement of door closing forces and ramp reaction forces, and additional requirements for trolleybuses, with transitional provisions in 4.18.
It replaces GB 13094-2007, GB 18986-2003 (light buses) and GB/T 19950-2005 (double-deck buses), integrating them into one standard: Class A and Class B buses, double-deck buses and trolleybuses are now covered, the superstructure strength provisions are deleted and the exit, gangway, seating and wheelchair requirements are extensively revised; all its technical contents are mandatory.
Issued on 14 October 2017 and in force since 1 January 2018. Classification: ICS 43.020, CCS T09. The document runs to 60 pages, delivered complete in English translation.
