NB/T 20328.5-2015 carries the magnetic particle testing rules of the recommended Chinese energy industry standard on the non-destructive testing of nuclear island mechanical components.

It fixes the technical requirements and the acceptance criteria for magnetic particle testing by the continuous method.

It serves to find surface and near-surface defects in the ferromagnetic workpieces and equipment of the nuclear island, and it normally allows the shape, the position and the size of those defects to be judged; plate, castings, forgings, welded joints and pipe fittings in ferromagnetic material are all within reach of the method.

Non-ferromagnetic material lies outside it. It quotes GB/T 4956, GB/T 12604.5, JB/T 6065 and NB/T 20328.1. Issued on 2 April 2015, it has applied since 1 September 2015.
