The fourth part of NB/T 20328, NB/T 20328.4-2015, is the recommended Chinese energy industry standard for the penetrant testing of nuclear island mechanical components in nuclear power plants.

It states the technical requirements and the acceptance criteria for that examination. It applies to the detection of defects open to the surface of non-porous materials and workpieces in nuclear island machinery and equipment, where the method can normally establish the shape, the position and the size of the opening.

Penetrant testing under this part suits the examination of plate, forgings, castings, welded joints and pipe for surface openings of that kind. It quotes GB/T 5097, GB 11533, GB/T 18851.2, JB/T 6064 and NB/T 20328.1. Issued on 2 April 2015, it has applied since 1 September 2015.
