Scope

GB/T 9851.7-2008 is the English-translated version of 印刷技术术语 第7部分: 印后加工术语.

GB/T 9851.7-2008 is the Chinese national vocabulary for postpress work and is Part 7 of the GB/T 9851 terminology series for graphic technology, whose earlier parts cover basic terms, prepress, letterpress, lithographic, gravure and screen printing.

It defines the terms of postpress processing itself, of binding, of surface decoration such as varnishing, laminating and foil stamping, of the forming of packaging containers and of the equipment used.

Against the superseded edition it adds the terms of mechanical binding and packaging-forming lines, among them adhesive binding and hardcover lines, saddle stitchers, folding, collating and box-making machines, guillotines and laminating machines, and entries such as easy-tear lines and die cutting.

It is meant for drafting printing-industry standards and for publishing, teaching, research and technical exchange. It replaces GB/T 9851.9-1990, was issued on 2 July 2008 and has applied since 1 December 2008.
