Scope
GB/T 9851.9-2017 is the English-translated version of 印刷技术术语 第9部分：书刊印刷术语.
GB/T 9851.9-2017 is Part 9 of the Chinese terminology standard for graphic technology and collects the terms of book and periodical printing.
Clause 2 defines the basic ones: book, periodical, books and periodicals, the volume, book and periodical printing, the press sheet both as the unit in which paper consumption is counted and as the name of a single unprinted sheet, book format and the book block.
Several definitions are taken over from CY/T 50-2008 and GB/T 9851.7-2008, and the entries cross-refer to one another by clause number. It is written for standards drafting, teaching, research and technical exchange in book and periodical printing and publishing.
GB/T 9851.9-2017 was issued on 29 December 2017 and has applied since 1 July 2018.

1 Scope
GB/T 9851 provisions of this part of the printing technology books and periodical printing terms and definitions.
This section applies to books and periodicals in the printing, publishing and related fields of standard preparation, teaching, research and technology exchange. This book printing can refer to use.
2 Basic terms
2.1 Book
Use words or pictures, symbols to record knowledge on paper and other carriers, and have a considerable length of non-consecutive publications. [CY/T 50-2008, definition 2.57]
2.2 Periodicals
A serial of publications, published on a regular basis, more than one issue a year, often bringing together multiple articles. [CY/T 50-2008, Definition 5.95]
2.3 Books and periodical
The general term for books (2.1) and journals (2.2).
2.4 This volume
Notebooks, books, brochures, catalogs and other printed materials with books and journals.
2.5 Book and periodical printing
Books (2.3) of the print production.
2.6 Press sheet
< Unit of measurement> Book printing (2.5) The unit of measure for the amount of paper used is one printed sheet on both sides of the paper.
2.7 Press sheet
< Print Name> Unprinted single sheet after printing.
2.8 Book format
Books (2.3) format size, accounting for a fraction of the whole sheet of paper is a few open book.
