Scope

GB/T 7024-2025 is the English-translated version of 电梯、自动扶梯和自动人行道术语.

GB/T 7024-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering the vocabulary of the lift trade — the types of lift by application, by drive and by layout, the general terms covering the builder's work, the ratings and the control modes, the parts from safety gear and buffers to landing doors, suspension and the machine, the hydraulic lift terms, the escalator and moving walk terms, a chapter on intelligent lift technology, and the terms for lift drivers and authorised persons. The third revision since the 1986 first issue, and the one that brings destination control, unintended car movement and the lift Internet of Things into the vocabulary. Issued on 30 June 2025, it has been in force since 30 June 2025, replacing GB/T 7024-2008.

Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1: Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting.

This document replaces GB/T 7024-2008 "Terminology for elevators, escalators and moving walks".

In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

a) Changed the name of Chapter 3 to "Elevator Types" and added basic terms, general application type terms, drive type terms, Classification of other application type terms and arrangement type terms (see Chapter 3, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 2008 Edition, Section 2 chapter);

b) The name of Chapter 4 was changed to "General Elevator Terms", and the following sections were added. Basic Terms, Elevator Civil Engineering Terms, and Control Mode Terms.

Category (see Chapter 4, 4.1, 4.2, 4.4, Chapter 3 of the 2008 edition);

c) The title of Chapter 5 has been changed to "Elevator Components", and the terms of elevator safety components, car and counterweight (or balance weight) components have been added.

This document defines terms related to elevators, escalators and moving walks.

This document is applicable to the formulation and revision of standards for elevators, escalators and moving walkways, the compilation of technical documents, and the preparation of professional manuals, textbooks and Writing and translation of books and periodicals.

3 Elevator Types

3.1 Basic Terminology

3.1.1 elevator lift;elevator

A permanently installed elevator serving a designated floor of a building (or structure, etc.) with its car (or carrying device) running along at least two rows of rigid guide rails.

Transport equipment installed.

3.2 General application type terms

3.2.1 passenger elevator passenger lift

An elevator primarily used to transport people.

3.2.2 Goods lift; freight lift

goods-passenger lift An elevator used primarily to transport goods, usually accompanied by a person.

3.2.4 Dumbwaiter; service lift
