Scope
GB/T 6288-2021 is the English-translated version of 粒状分子筛粒度测定方法.
GB/T 6288-2021 is the Chinese test method for measuring the particle size of granular molecular sieves, both spherical and extruded strip products.
It defines the terms used, such as particle size, particle length, granularity, screening and screen overflow, and describes how a sample is separated with test sieves meeting GB/T 6003.1-2012 so that the mass percentage within a specified size or length range can be found.
Sampling follows GB/T 6678. Compared with the earlier edition it adds terms and definitions, improves the test equipment, details the test procedures and adds requirements for the test report.
It is used by molecular sieve producers and testing laboratories. It replaces GB/T 6288-1986, was issued on 20 August 2021 and has applied since 1 March 2022.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 6288-1986 "Method for the determination of particle size of granular molecular sieves". Compared with GB/T 6288-1986, except for structural adjustment In addition to the overall and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
a) Added terms and definitions (see Chapter 3);
b) Improve the test equipment (see 4.2, 5.2, 1.2 and 2.2 of the 1986 edition);
c) Detailed test procedures (see 4.4, 5.4, 1.3 and 2.4 of the 1986 edition);
d) The test report requirements have been added (see Chapter 6).
1 Scope
This document specifies the method for determining the particle size of granular molecular sieves.
This document is applicable to the determination of particle size of various spherical and strip molecular sieves.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Particle size
The diameter of the spherical particle product or the cross-sectional diameter of the bar particle product. [Source: GB/T 33032-2016, 2.3.1]
3.2 Particle length
The length of the bar pellet product.
3.3 Granularity
The mass percentage of the spherical molecular sieve within the specified particle size range of the sample or the mass percentage of the strip-shaped molecular sieve within the specified strip length range of the sample percentage. [Source: GB/T 33032-2016, 2.3.2, with modification]
3.4 Screening
An operation method in which one or several test sieves are used to separate the mixture of molecular sieves of different particle sizes by size. [Source: GB/T 33032-2016, 2.3.3]
3.5 Screen overflow (sieve residue)
The part of the sieve that cannot pass the specified sieve number.
