1 Scope

This part of GB/T 5907 defines the general terms and definitions related to fire protection.

This part is applicable to fire management, fire standardization, fire safety engineering, fire science research, teaching, consulting, publishing and other related work fields.

2 Terms and definitions

2.1 fire protection; fire

general term for fire prevention (2.16) and fire fighting and rescue (2.60)

2.2 fire

phenomenon of combustion (2.21) characterized by emission of heat accompanied by smoke and/or flame

2.3 fire

combustion (2.21) out of control in time or space

2.4 arson

behavior of setting a fire (2.3), usually with intent to cause damage

2.5 fire parameter

physical quantity representing the characteristics of fire (2.3)

2.6 fire classification

classification of fires (2.3) in terms of the type of combustible (2.49) and the property of combustion (2.21) with standardized methods
