Scope
GB/T 31540.5-2019 is the English-translated version of 消防安全工程指南 第5部分:火灾烟气运动.
GB/T 31540.5-2019 is Part 5 of the Chinese fire safety engineering guide and deals with the movement of fire effluents, the sub-system 2 of the series. It specifies the assessment methods, the input and output parameters and the engineering methods used to predict how smoke spreads in a building fire.
It defines fire effluent, fire plume, ceiling jet and vent flow, lists the symbols for pressure, pressure difference and ambient air density, and then introduces sub-system 2, its evaluation process and the engineering methods themselves.
It is meant as a basic guide for building fire safety engineering, for fire risk assessment and for the engineering work that goes with them, and it cites GB/T 5907.1, the earlier parts of GB/T 31540 and GA/T 999. It was issued on 18 October 2019 and has applied since the same day.

Foreword
GB/T 31540 "Fire Safety Engineering Guide" is divided into the following sections.
--- Part 1. Application of performance in design;
--- Part 2. Fire occurrence, development and generation of smoke;
--- Part 3. Structural response and the external spread of indoor fires;
--- Part 4. Detection, start-up and fire suppression;
--- Part 5. Fire smoke movement;
This part is the fifth part of GB/T 31540.
This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
Introduction
In the event of a fire in a building, a large amount of smoke is inevitable, and the smoke generated by the fire can cause serious damage to people inside the building. therefore, Effective control of flue gas is one of the important goals of building fire protection design. At present, building fire smoke control mainly adopts two methods, one is According to the relevant method, the technical indicators and requirements for smoke and smoke prevention are given by the relevant technical specifications; the other is the fire safety engineering method, which is mainly adopted.
Fire model and related calculation formulas or calculation software to predict the occurrence and development of fire smoke by setting fire scenes and fire scale And on this basis, put forward control measures to slow down the deterioration of the environment at the scene of the fire, increase the chances of people being rescued, and thus reduce the fire smoke.
The hazards that gas movement can bring. This part of GB/T 31540 can use fire safety engineering methods to predict fire smoke for engineers and technicians. Guide to gas movement.
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 31540 specifies the evaluation methods, input and output parameters and engineering methods of fire smoke movement.
