Scope
GB/T 5359.1-2019 is the English-translated version of 摩托车和轻便摩托车术语 第1部分:车辆类型.
GB/T 5359.1-2019 is Part 1 of GB/T 5359 and gives the terminology of the vehicle types of motorcycles and mopeds. Clause 1 states that this part gives the terms and definitions of the vehicle types of motorcycles and mopeds and that it applies to motorcycles and mopeds.
Clause 2, Type terms, carries the entries themselves: the entry for motorcycle is built on criteria of maximum design speed, displacement of the thermic engine and maximum continuous rated power of the electric driving motor, and it excludes motor-driven wheelchairs specially for disabled people whose maximum design vehicle speed, complete vehicle unladen mass and overall dimensions comply with the relevant national standards and regulations.
Under it the page shows entries for electric motorcycle, dual-purpose bike, off-road bike, general racer bike, road racer bike, motor-crosser racer bike, trial bike, motorcycle with two wheels for specific purpose and motorcycle with sidecar (L4), with a note that for an electric three-wheeled motorcycle the complete vehicle unladen mass does not include the mass of the power storage batteries; the numbering of these sub-entries jumps from 2.1.2 to 2.1.3.4 in the draft, and the entry for motorcycle with two wheels for specific purpose is printed with its own term repeated in place of a definition.
The moped entries follow the same shape, with an added exclusion for vehicles complying with the electric bicycle national standard and with sub-entries for electric moped, hybrid electric moped, plug-in hybrid electric moped and extended-range hybrid electric moped; the page breaks off in mid-sentence inside the last of these.
The table of contents also lists clause 3, Vehicle types, the informative Annex A, Vehicle type references, and a Reference list, none of whose text the page shows.
The page gives ICS 43.140 and Chinese classification T 80, and names the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China as the issuing bodies.
It replaces GB/T 5359.1-2008, was issued on March 25, 2019 and has applied since October 1, 2019.
